My special kitty got out of the house sometime yesterday. Even now Jeff
and I don't know how it was that she got out or which one of us she
snuck by.
She always comes when I call or shake her food, so when I got home from work and she wasn't anywhere to be found we started panicking. We searched the neighborhood, called her name and shined flashlights on kitty hiding places.
We went to bed at 1 am exhausted and trying to figure out our plan for the next day. Did someone take her in? Did she get lost? Did she get hurt? Did someone think she was a stray cuz she had no collar and turn her in to be euthanized? Did she -- sniff -- get hit by a car??? I was miserable!!
We left the garage open and put some food outside. At 5 a.m. I woke up and called for her through the garage. Nothing. I opened the front door and called for her -- and with just a moments hesitation she slinked into the house.
She looked like her normal self with her fur a little scruffed. But she was missing for 12-16 hours -- a lot for an indoor kitty. And somehow she found her way home. What a smart kitty!
I am very thankful for my Luna, and my boyfriend who helped me look for her even though she bites him sometimes.
We're very hopeful that she had a scary, lonely adventure instead of an exciting, lets-try-that-again adventure. Homeward bound, Luna!
